Following the official draw conducted by Concacaf for the 2026 Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers, Guyana has been placed in Group D alongside Honduras, Jamaica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Aruba. The tournament, which serves as the first phase of the qualification process for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, will take place from January 24 to February 2, 2026.

According to the draw which took place on Wednesday, September 15, the team’s are scheduled to be hosted in Aruba. The competition will be played in a round-robin format, with each team facing the others once.

Guyana’s campaign will begin on Sunday, January 25, 2026, against Jamaica, followed by a matchup against Aruba on January 29, 2026. The team will then meet Honduras on January 31, 2026, before concluding group play against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on February 3, 2026.

Following the group stage, the six group winners and the two best second-place finishers will advance to the Final Round. There, they will join the region’s four top-ranked teams—Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the United States—who received a bye to the next phase of the competition.

The 2026 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers marks the second edition to be played under this two-round format, which was first introduced in 2025. The tournament continues to play a key role in providing young female footballers across the region with opportunities to compete at the highest level and gain international experience.

GFF President Wayne Forde reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to youth development, noting that the qualifiers represent an important platform for nurturing the next generation of women’s footballers.

“Our Under-17 women’s team embodies the future of Guyanese football. This tournament not only gives our players invaluable international exposure but also strengthens our long-term vision of building a sustainable pathway for women’s football in Guyana. We are confident that the girls will represent the Golden Arrowhead with pride and determination,” Forde stated.

Preparations by the GFF’s technical department are already underway with training camps and player assessments in the pipeline, as part of the build-up to the competition.
