August 19, 2026, Georgetown - The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Under-14 Boys have secured their place in the semi-finals of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-14 Challenge Series following an impressive unbeaten run in the Group C, Tier II category.
The squad completed the group stage with three consecutive victories, demonstrating both their attacking and defensive qualities, resilience and determination throughout the competition. Their performances have earned them a place in the semi-final round, which is scheduled for Friday, August 21, as they continue their campaign in the Dominican Republic.
Guyana opened its campaign with a commanding 8 – 1 victory over Montserrat, setting the tone for a strong group-stage performance. The goals came from Avon Peters, Dane Vancooten, Lujon Dos Santos, Aaron Vasconcellos and Wayshawn Forde, with Vasconcellos scoring twice and Forde completing a hat-trick.
The young Jags continued its winning form in its second group-stage encounter, securing a convincing 4 – 1 victory over Anguilla. Aaron Vasconcellos once again led the attack with a brace, scoring in the 8th and 24th minutes, while Dane Vancooten added a goal in the 35th minute and Asher McIntyre completed the scoring in the 56th minute.
In their final group-stage fixture, the young Golden Jaguars produced another disciplined performance to defeat The Bahamas 1 – 0, securing a winning finish to the preliminary round. Wayshawn Forde proved decisive once again, scoring the match-winning goal in the 65th minute to complete Guyana’s perfect three-match record.
Across the three group-stage matches, Guyana scored 13 goals while conceding just two, highlighting the team’s attacking efficiency and defensive organisation. Forde emerged as a key contributor in front of the goal, while Vasconcellos also made a significant impact with four goals across the opening two matches.
With the group stage now complete, the GFF Under-14 Boys will turn their attention to the semi-finals on Friday, August 21, where they will look to continue their impressive run and challenge for a place in the final.
