Communications Officer

The GFF communications officer develops and implements communication, media, and public relations strategies for the Federation, managing both internal and external communications by creating content including press releases, social media, speeches etc. liaising with media and stakeholders, and developing strategies to maintain the GFF brand and reputation. Key responsibilities will include content creation, media relations, campaign management, internal communications, and budget management to ensure consistent, effective messaging across all the GFF’s social channels. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop, in consultation with the GFF Council, acommunications and public relations policy for the Guyana Football Federation.
2. Consistently develop, ‎review and revise communications and public relations strategies to be executed that will build and sustain a positive image for the Federation.
3. As an element of the communications and public relations strategy, develop, implement, and manage an integrated media approach (print, electronic and social media platforms) to maximize these media opportunities for the Federation’s benefit.
4. Write, coordinate and issue press releases and statements, briefing materials, and feature articles; organize and manage press conferences and any other media opportunities on all the Federation’s activities.
5. Provide complete, accurate and timely responses to media enquiries or media interest in the Federation’s activities.
6. Liaise daily with key Secretariat personnel, Regional Associations, Affiliates and Clubs to obtain newsworthy activities to communicate with both external and internal publics.
7. Undertake drafting and development of internal communication publications such as newsletters, releases, email announcements and such like to communicate with the Federation’s internal audiences.
8. Monitor and evaluate media coverage and public relations activities that impact on the Federation’s image.
9. Manage media relations and maximize media opportunities by developing, consolidating, and maintaining a strong network of media contacts that will aid in widespreadoutreach to various publics of the Federation’s brand.
10. Manage the Federation’s Website and Facebook accounts.Develop rich and creative content that includes the utilization of YouTube, Tik Tok and Social Media videos to generate increased public interest.
11. Formulate and manage the communications and public relations budget in conjunction with the Finance Department.
12. Execute any other function that may be assigned to you from time to time by your functional superiors.
13. Working along with the Marketing Department on respective areas of collaboration.
14. Any other duties assigned by the GFF.

6. Presentation skills for preparation proposal.
7. Experience in planning and executing press conferences, briefing and launches.
8. Ability to work closely with GFF departments Marketing, Competitions, Finance and Administration) to maximize sponsor value.
9. Self-motivated, proactive, and able to thrive in a dynamic sporting environment.

Minimal Qualification & Experience

Key Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Arts, or a related field (Master’s degree in Media Studies/Communication/Arts will be an advantage).
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications, media,or public relations, preferably in sports, entertainment, or corporate partnerships.
3. Proven track record of preparing communication and public relations campaigns and strategies for different projects or activities.
4. Strong understanding of brand management, communication strategy, and brand and social media management.
5. Familiarity with the sports industry, football ecosystem, and media sector in Guyana and the wider Caribbean will be a strong asset.
