December 12, 2025, Georgetown–The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has officially implemented its Match Manipulation and Integrity Policy, following its approval at the GFF Ordinary Congress 2025, held on November 29, 2025.
The policy was formally presented to and endorsed by Congress members, reaffirming the Federation’s zero-tolerance stance on match manipulation, betting-related misconduct, and all actions that threaten the integrity of football in Guyana. In keeping with this decision, a Circular has since been issued to all GFF Congress members, clubs, and stakeholders for immediate implementation of the policy across all levels of the game.
The Match Manipulation and Integrity Policy establishes a comprehensive framework for the prevention, detection, reporting, and investigation of integrity-related breaches. It applies to all persons under the jurisdiction of the GFF, including players, coaches, match officials, administrators, club executives, agents, and volunteers.
Key provisions of the policy include:
• A clear definition of match manipulation and prohibited conduct
• A strict ban on football-related betting and gambling activities
• A mandatory duty to report any suspicious approaches or conduct
• The appointment of a GFF Integrity Officer as the central point of contact
• Confidential and protected reporting mechanisms
• Strong disciplinary sanctions for violations, including suspensions, bans, and referrals to law enforcement
The GFF will also roll out mandatory education and awareness programmes, integrity workshops, and digital learning modules to ensure that all stakeholders fully understand their responsibilities and reporting obligations under the policy.
Speaking on the implementation of the policy, the Guyana Football Federation reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the credibility of the sport, noting that matches must be decided on the pitch through fair competition, free from unlawful influence or manipulation.
The Federation will continue to work closely with FIFA, Concacaf, and relevant authorities to uphold the highest standards of integrity and transparency within Guyanese football.
The policy, as noted, is now in effect and binding on all persons and entities under the Federation’s jurisdiction.
