GFF, MACORP Graduate 10 from Third Scholarship Programme for Excavator Operators

April 17, 2026, Georgetown – Ten participants have successfully graduated from the third edition of the MACORP Scholarship Programme for Excavator Operators, a collaborative initiative between the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and Machinery Corporation of Guyana Ltd (MACORP).

The certificate handover ceremony was held on Friday at MACORP’s headquarters in Providence, East Bank Demerara, where players and football administrators were recognised for completing the Level One Excavator Operator Training.

In attendance were MACORP President and General Manager German Consuegra, GFF President Wayne Forde, and MACORP Training Manager Miguel Oviedo.

In his address, President and General Manager German Consuegra encouraged the graduates to hone in on their skill set, while also increasing their ability to produce for themselves and by extension their families and society.

Delivering remarks at the ceremony, Forde underscored the importance of career planning beyond football, highlighting the programme as a critical pathway for personal and professional development.

“I am incredibly proud of these young people and wish to congratulate them on behalf of the GFF Council and our wider football community,” Forde said. “Through their dedication, discipline, and commitment over the past few months, they have acquired highly marketable skills that improve their chances of securing meaningful employment and contributing to Guyana’s development. We wish them every success in their future endeavours.”

Launched in 2021, the programme is designed to equip footballers and administrators with technical competencies and alternative career opportunities beyond the sport. To date, 28 operators in three branches, male and female, have completed the three-week training programme and are now certified MACORP machine operators.
