GFF YOUTH ENSEMBLE SURPASSES 2,000 PLAYER REGISTRATIONS NATIONWIDE - 123 club entries engaged across Boys’ U13 and U15 championships

June 23, 2026, Georgetown- The Guyana Football Federation’s Youth Ensemble has recorded an outstanding level of nationwide participation, with 2,019 player registrations and 123 club entries confirmed across the Boys’ Under-13 and Under-15 championships.

The Boys’ U13 Championship features 913 player registrations from 58 club entries, while the Boys’ U15 Championship has attracted 1,106 registrations from 65 club entries.

Participation extends across nine regional associations: Berbice, Bartica, East Bank, East Demerara, Essequibo Coast-Pomeroon, Georgetown, Rupununi, Upper Demerara and West Demerara.

GFF President Wayne Forde said the response demonstrates the strong national demand for consistent and structured youth football.

“This programme can only succeed through the collaboration of our clubs and regional associations, and I am extremely pleased that they have all responded positively, even under challenging circumstances. More than 2,000 young players are now benefiting from this initiative. This is what football development in Guyana will look like over the next four years, clubs working together to create opportunities and build a clear pathway for the next generation.”

The widespread engagement reflects the collective efforts of the regional associations, clubs, coaches, parents, volunteers and community leaders who continue to support the development of young footballers throughout Guyana.

The Youth Ensemble forms part of the GFF’s long-term commitment to providing regular competition, expanding access to football and establishing a sustainable development pathway from grassroots and youth football to the national level.

This is the youth development infrastructure being put in place over the next four years, supported by an annual investment of GY$44 million in collaboration with FIFA.
