The Director – Leagues and Competitions is responsible for the strategic planning, management, administration, and delivery of all Guyana Football Federation domestic football competitions across mens, womens, youth, futsal and beach soccer football. The Director will ensure competitions are delivered professionally, safely, transparently, and in accordance with FIFA, Concacaf, Caribbean Football Union (CFU), and GFF Statutes, Regulations and Competition Rules.
The position is responsible for developing an efficient national competitions calendar, managing club licensing operations, improving competition standards, supporting regional football associations, and driving the professionalisation of domestic football in Guyana. This aligns with FIFA's emphasis on strengthening competition structures and governance within member associations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and oversee the execution of all GFF-sanctioned leagues and competitions.
- Develop annual competition calendars and operational plans.
- Ensure compliance with competition regulations, licensing requirements, and football governance standards.
- Coordinate with Registered Clubs, Regional Associations, Referees, Government of Guyana, and other stakeholders for effective competition delivery.
- Liaise with FIFA and Concacaf on the organisation of all international competitions.
- Monitor competition performance and prepare regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Plan and manage annual competition-related budgets and resource allocation.
- Lead the implementation of the GFF League Professionalization Project and associated work plans.
- Develop project timelines, milestones, monitoring frameworks, and performance indicators.
- Prepare project reports, presentations, and updates for GFF leadership and funding partners.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen league governance, club administration, commercial development, and operational standards.
- Support capacity-building initiatives for registered clubs and league administrators
Personal Attributes
- Possess a valid driver's licence.
- Be willing to travel throughout Guyana.

Minimal Qualification & Experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in a senior competitions management or sports administration role.
- Demonstrated experience in Club Licensing administration and implementation.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Sports Management, Sports Administration, or a related discipline (Master's Degree would be an asset).
- Proven leadership experience managing and supervising teams.

- Must have considerable knowledge and experience in Match Operations within a football federation, league, club, or sports organisation.
- Strong working knowledge of FIFA, Concacaf, and football competition regulations.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required.
