GERMAN’S RESTAURANT ON BOARD FOR GFF-EXXONMOBIL INTERNATIONAL FUTSAL FESTIVAL

“We operate within the community and, as part of German’s social responsibility, it’s important for us to give back to that same community that supports us throughout the year and this is one of the initiatives that we’re proud to be associated with, that is, the International Futsal Festival,” said Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of German’s Restaurant, Clinton Urling as he presented a monetary contribution to the upcoming tournament.

The presentation was made today at the eatery’s New Market street headquarters and received by Lakeisha Pearson and Kashif Mohammad respectively on behalf of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF.)

Urling, in extending best wishes for a successful tournament, said the reach of the sport and the organizations involved have motivated his sponsorship: “Sports reach a wide cross-section of youths, fans and people overall and German’s, at any opportunity we get, (would support) especially since organizations such as the GFF and the Kashif and Shanghai Organization are involved; that was the main impetus for us to get involved in this competition and we look forward to both organizations hosting of a successful tournament.”

The four-day festival is scheduled to kick off on December 27 at 18:00hrs with six matches; each being played on the hour culminating with the final match at 23:00hrs. All matches are scheduled for the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

It will feature eight teams placed in two groups including Morvant Caledonia United from Trinidad and Tobago, ZV All-Stars from Suriname and a Soa Paula selection from Brazil. Others local teams are an East Coast All-Stars, Linden All-Stars, Georgetown All-Stars and West Demerara All-Stars.

The winning team will pocket $1.2 million, while the losing finalist will receive half that amount. Third and fourth-placed finishers will pocket $300,000 and $100,000 respectively.
