The quarterfinals of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) KFC-sponsored National U20 “Independence Cup” Playoff 2019 are scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday at the GFF National Training Centre, Providence.
Dynamic FC versus NA United FC will kick things off at 12:30hrs tomorrow followed by Timehri Panthers versus Botofago FC at 15:00hrs while on Sunday, matches will feature Santos FC vs Strikers FC at 13:00hrs and Fruta Conquerors vs Buxton United at 15:30hrs respectively.
This quarterfinals feature winners of the first leg of the national playoff held last weekend involving the respective winners of the intra-association tournament (see link for detailed results…GFF-KFC National Playoff Results 2019 (1)).
According to the tournament rules, kicks from the penalty mark will be implemented following a tied score at the end of regulation time and 20 minutes added time: “If at the end of regulation time the score is tied…for the National Play-off, an additional twenty (20) minutes will be played; two periods of ten (10) minutes each; and then if the score remains tied, kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with FIFA Regulations regarding kicks from the penalty mark, will be implemented.”
Prizes for the tournament are as follows:
1st Prize – $500,000.00 + Trophy + Medals; 2nd Prize – $300,000.00 + Trophy + Medals; 3rd Prize – $200,000.00 + Trophy + Medals and 4th Prize – Trophy + Medals
The semifinal is set for next Saturday with the third-place and finals set for July 1.
