GUYANA REFEREE TO OFFICIATE IN CONCACAF CARIBBEAN CUP SHIELD

12th April, 2018, Georgetown: Trevor Porter, FIFA Referee, will officiate in the Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield Tournament scheduled for Santiago, Dominican Republic, from April 12 – 21.

Porter will be among 30 referees and Assistant Referees who will participate in the tournament, which features the top clubs of the Caribbean.

In an invited comment, the Assistant Referee said he was happy to participate in the tournament and look forward to the international exposure: “I’m happy to participate in the tournament. International exposure is always great to enhance technical and tactical skills and this tournament will offer opportunities for same as well as networking for further technical development. Fitness is key and I believe this is an area where I’ll both contribute to and learn from.”

The referee, who is on his first international appointment of the year and is the only referee from Guyana participating in the augural tournament, is scheduled to return on April 22.

The tournament features 12 teams from 12 Concacaf Member Associations, which are working towards professionalizing the club game and include the following: SV Deportivo Nacional, Aruba; Weymouth Wales FC, Barbados; SV Real Rincon, Bonaire; Bodden Town FC, Cayman Islands; RKSV Centro Dominguito, Curacao; Hard Rock Sports Club, Grenada; USR Sainte-Rose, Guadeloupe; Guyana Defence Force, Guyana; Club Franciscain, Martinique; Cayon FC, St. Kitts and Nevis; Avenues United FC, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and Inter Moengotapoe, Suriname.
