Women footballers will be in action from this Saturday at the St. Ignatius Sports Ground, Lethem when Theresa & George Bobb in collaboration with the Rupununi Football Association (RFA), host an Under-17 female Round Robin 7-A-Side Tournament.
The tournament, scheduled from August 3 – 31, will kick off at 16:00hrs, with the following seven participating teams battling for the championship trophy and medals: Moco Moco FC, Rising Stars FC, Gladiators FC, Rush Saints FC, Terminators FC, Far East Sports Club, Potarnau Sky Kings FC and Tabatinga FC. According to the sponsors, Theresa & George Bobb, they decided to come on board with the RFA for this inaugural tournament to further develop the game and to have more female participation in the sport.
RFA’s President, Rayan Farias, thanked the sponsors for their partnership and is hopeful for the continued partnership and extension of the tournament in the future.
The matches will be played for a 50-minute duration with 10 minutes allotted for half time.
